ESA WILL TRANSLATE LATEST CHINESE STANDARDS IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE
ESA provides especially for its members the translation of the latest chinese standards at the special fee of € 200,- for all standards mentioned below. So do not hesitate to assure your copy of these useful documents!
The standards are:
GB 10810.1-2005, its title is "Uncut finished Spectacle lenses Part1:Single-vision and multifocal lenses". It contains 10 pages and about 16000 Chinese Characters.
GB 10810.2-2005, its title is "Uncut finished spectacle lenses -- Part 2:Progressive power spectacle lenses". It contains 12 pages and about 18000 Chinese Characters.
GB 10810.3-2005, its title is "Spectacle lenses and related eye wear -- Transmittance specifications and test methods". It contains 19 pages and about 33000 Chinese Characters.
ESA Yearly Conference 2007
ESA Members and non-members of the sunglass industry from all over Europe as well as the Pre sident of the Sunglass Association of America, Mr. Tibor Gross, reported and discussed facts and and information concerning the wide spread varity of sunglass related themes, whereby the conference offered plenty of useful information and new ideas for enhancing work on thr European sunglass market.

For example the lecture "Future Shop `Change of Consumer Society`" performed by Mr. Ulrich Eggert from the Associate Duttweiler Institute, gave a very informative forecast for the rapide change of customer behaviour and the challenges that will arise for sellers in the near future.
MIDO Fashion Dinner 2007
This year´s MIDO Fahsion Dinner - opened by ESA President Mr. Rod Lane and SAA President Mr. Tibor Gross - once again provided a lot of informative impressions and ideas about fashion. This time, the waiting time between each course was bridged by the 1st Annual Global Visionary Award Presentation, a lecture on fashion helt by Mrs. Debbie Forstenzer, as well as with a little Quiz to integrate the audience into the spectacle.
Proud winners of the 1st Annual Global Visionary Award were Mr. George Chao from Contour Optic, Inc. (Taiwan) and Mr. Riccardo Pollineli from Gruppo Pollineli Occhiali (Italy).

WATCH YOUR EYES - DVD AT SPECIAL FEE!
The consumer film about eye health, risks and protection is now available in five languages, such as english, german, french, spanish and italian. The new consumer film is, beside the education book "Sunglass Instructor", one of the important tools to assist ESA members from the industry and the retail business.

The ESA video can be used at the point-of-sale (optician stores), on websites, can be presented during fairs and exhibitions, presentations, as an instrument for education and training courses at universities, technical schools, and not at least as a tool for the internal training of members. After having seen the video the audience knows that sunglasses contribute to a wrinkle free skin and healthy eyes...
The film is divided in four units

In the first unit the viewer is told about the beauty and joy of the sun and the dangers that lie within the consumption of sunlight. This unit shows furthermore how careless people behave in the sunlight and espacially how they forget to protect children`s eyes. |

The second unit describes the composition of light in general and the effect of UV light on the eyes. Following a schmematic illustration of the eye and the light streaming into it is shown to clarify the effects of light on the eyes to the viewer. Thus the viewer is able to understand the abstract physical process that lies within the perception of light. |

In the third unit severe deases on the human eye caused by uv radiation are characterised. After having learned about the the danger and the physical process of light in the first two units, the viewer is now faced with the serious consequenses that arise of a lack of the right eye protection. |

After having seen the first three units the viewer is elucidated about the dangers and risks of uv radiation. The fourth unit now conveys information about the right UV protection for the eyes. In this context several important aspects that have to be kept in mind at a purchase of sunglasses are mentioned to the viewer. So that in the end the viewer must not be afraid of enjoying the sun. |
